SNAG is pleased to co-sponsor a special panel presentation "The Philanthropy of Craft: Innovative Ways to Make Your Charitable Contributions Count," 1:00pm, Friday, November 7, 2008, room 309, Navy Pier.

This panel will be the first in a series of discussions to create a dialogue among donors who are passionate about supporting and ensuring the future of craft.

Also of interest to SNAG members is Ursula Ilse Neuman, the jewelry curator from the Museum of Arts and Design speaking about MAD's permanent jewelry collection and the inaugural exhibition at their new location at Columbus Circle. Ursula's lecture will be followed by the Art Jewelry Forum's presentation of their annual Emerging Artist Award to Masumi Katoaka. Sponsored by the Art Jewelry Forum.

In addition, Lisa Gralnick, Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will be speaking about her three part Gold Standard project.

  • Metalsmith editor Suzanne Ramljak explored the concept of framing as it relates to the structure, display and wearing of jewelry. In conjunction with the "Framing the Art of Jewelry" exhibition at SOFA Chicago which featured work from the 2007 Metalsmith Exhibition in Print issue, guest curated by Ellen Lupton.
