Shana Kroiz has been working on new pieces of her sensuous jewelry and will be at the American Fine Craft Show NYC, Facets in Baltimore, One of a Kind Show and Sale Chicago, and American Fine Craft Show Brooklyn.
Jillian Moore will be returning to Amsterdam for the international jewellery art fair SIERAAD with nine other American jewelry makers. They will make up the largest single group of Americans at the fair, all participating for the first time excluding Moore. The organizer of SIERAAD, Astrid Berens, has been working to help promote this year’s influx of Americans with the additional post-fair event “American Monday.” This is a first for SIERAAD, and it will help further showcase the work of ten Americans, five from Moore’s group as well as five others, to the jewelry community of Amsterdam through a series of lectures and demonstrations.

Claudio Pino has announced that The Museum of Decorative Arts of Santiago, Chile is presenting a few of his one-of-a-kind rings during the contemporary jewelry exhibition Delirio y Cordura. Pino’s work will also be at Galerie Noel Guyomarch in Montreal, Canada; the collective exhibition of 14 jewelers in Quebec will present his new trilogy, which was designed with the theme of transparency, as well as his Collection made in Platinum.
Joan Tenenbaum is pleased to announce that two of her cultural pieces: “Kela Nuch’iłtan: We Found Little Brother, A Dena’ina Story,” and “Feasts of Tradition” will be purchased by and become part of the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center’s permanent collection. Much of Tenenbaum’s work is based on her many years of living in Alaska with Native Peoples as an Anthropological Linguist.
Demitra Thomloudis has accepted a residency for 12 months at The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC). Her work is in several current exhibitions, including SPRAWL at HCCC and the Annual Marzee Selection of Graduate Work Jewelry 2013 from International Academies and Colleges at Galerie Marzee, Netherlands.
Sandie Zilker has been named as 2014 Texas Master by Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC). Zilker joins the roster of former Texas Masters—Harlan Butt, Cindy Hickok, Rachelle Thiewes, and Piero Fenci—recognized for their roles as career artists in Texas who have made a significant impact on the field of craft. As evidenced by her jewelry, as well as her own sartorial sensibility, Zilker is no stranger to experimentation in color, texture, pattern, and form. Next summer, HCCC will feature Zilker’s work in a solo exhibition, marking her 40th year of teaching at the Museum of Fine Arts’ Glassell School of Art, where she is head of the Jewelry and Enamel and Three Dimensional Design departments.
Barbara Heinrich and John Hatleberg are two of the five judges selected for the 2014 AGTA Spectrum Awards. Each year AGTA assembles an expert panel from different facets of the industry to judge the Spectrum Awards jewelry design and gemstone competition.
The winners of the 2013 Lewton-Brain Foldform Competition include Yuka Okane Inoue (at right) in First Place, and Ed Lay, in Third Place. Named for foldforming founder Charles Lewton-Brain, the competition recognizes the experimental work being done using the techniques of foldforming across art disciplines.
