Boris Bally and Harriete Estel Berman are among the semi-finalists of the 2013 Eco Arts Awards in the Repurposed Materials in Arts and Design category.
Amanda Packer has been awarded the Lydon Emerging Artist Program (LEAP) Award by the Society for Contemporary Craft. The LEAP Award honors exceptional emerging talent in the contemporary craft field. Packer, who recently received her MFA in Jewelry and Metals from San Diego State University, explores memory, nostalgia, and the power of objects in her work. Other finalists include Ashley Buchanan, Tara Locklear, and Laura Wood.
The MJSA Education Foundation recently awarded scholarships to students pursuing degrees related to jewelry making and design. Two of the recipients are SNAG members. Melis Agabigum of Ann Arbor, Michigan, who received a $2,450 scholarship, is working toward her MFA in Metalsmithing/Jewelry and Intermedia (integrated/mixed mediums and installation) at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. William Yang, who also received a $2,450 scholarship, is completing a BFA in Jewelry at the Pratt Institute in New York City.
