2020 SNAG Conference: Grit to Gold: Future Fifty

The 2020 Philadelphia SNAG conference is seeking curators, organizations, schools, and individuals to offer a fresh look at the field of contemporary metalsmithing through a multiple-exhibition and sale event called Adorned Spaces. This juried event will highlight both established and emerging artists to celebrate innovations in metalsmithing through SNAG’s lifetime.
The 2020 conference organizers are offering spaces to applicants interested in creating their own pop-up exhibition at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel. Twenty-four different pop-up galleries (the spaces are once again approximately 64 square feet or 8’ x 8’ each) will occupy a meeting room during the conference on Thursday and Friday, May 21 and 22, 2020. This event and participating artists will be actively featured in conference promotional materials including the conference website, advertisements, and in the conference program brochure. Additionally, a special closing reception and sale highlighting Adorned Spaces will be held during the conference.
This opportunity is an open call. Applicant must be a current SNAG member (or if group, the contact person should be a SNAG member). Upon acceptance, applicant should register for and attend the SNAG conference. Day-pass attendance is permitted. (If a group, the contact person should attend).

Exhibitors will be notified of acceptance via email by February 21, 2020 (in time for early-bird conference registration).
A $95 fee for invited exhibitors will be required to confirm spot. These fees cover a few basic event expenses for this featured SNAG exhibition event. In addition, as a benefit for Adorned Spaces exhibitors, SNAG provides insurance against damage and theft.
A detailed inventory form (including all participating artist names, addresses of artists, materials, as well as the wholesale value of all objects to be included in each exhibition) and a W-9 (U.S.) or W-8BEN (international) will need to be provided by April 1, 2020.
Five representative images of works in proposed exhibition, detail images of pieces should not be included in these five representative images. All images must be of professional quality; images must be in .jpg format, and at least 1600 pixels on the longest side. Clearly label and/or caption your photos as such: LastName_FirstName_entry#, for example: Smith_John_1, Smith_John_1_detail, Smith_John_2, etc. Please make sure image links are shared/made public and accessible to committee.

Juried by the SNAG Exhibitions Planning Committee
*The EPC will consider the quality of work proposed as well as a variety of exhibitions to create a balanced event.
Each space will be separated by removable boundaries made by masking tape on the floor. Table and chair availability will be outlined in acceptance notification. Additional materials and tools are the responsibility of the exhibitor/s. The main contact listed for the exhibition will be responsible for any and all damage done to hotel facilities. An installation method forum will be available to accepted applicants.
Schedule for Adorned Spaces Exhibition Day/Night
Installation will be: Wednesday, May 20th from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Exhibitors are responsible for arranging exhibit set-up, must be present at the exhibition reception from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday night, and MUST take-down their exhibition between 8:00 p.m – 11:00 p.m. Volunteers will be present during the two days to watch exhibition spaces so exhibitors may enjoy the conference.
Displayed objects are for sale, to be processed through SNAG during the closing reception. Each sale of art provides SNAG with 25% of total sale.
