I seek the inimitable. Weathered. Cast aside. High on the tide line are the gems I collect. Simultaneously thrilled and saddened by what I find. Liberated from the churning ocean and sun’s harsh rays, remnants of manufactured debris become my objet trouvé. To repair what's broken, whether looking inward emotionally, personally or outwardly observing what's broken socially, environmentally, globally. Small changes can have big impacts— this is the impetus for my artwork.
I am a Canadian visual artist with a practice in contemporary jewellery and sculpture. My work is a material exploration of plastics' worth and waste, a reflection of anthropogenic climate change, and a representation of recovery and transformation. Since 2004, I have altered discarded plastics in my work to produce one-of-a-kind pieces, and more recently, to create sculptural "Wall Jewellery" forms. I live and work in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
