Biography

Anna Young grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where her love of jewelry making came to fruition.  During her youth, her father operated as an antique reseller, influencing her appreciation for vintage treasures and the personal story in each of them.  As a result her work has always echoed a fascination with themes of birth and death, the emotional history of an object, sustainable craft, and both ephemeral and lasting art. Though her work has evolved over time, her designs reflect a contrast of delicate, effeminate detail with avant-garde, and, at times, macabre themes.  The materials are recycled and found objects wherever possible, from both manmade and natural worlds. She often combines traditional metals with unexpected components like glass and neon, IV tubing, porcupine quills, bone, and bullet casings.  It is through this language of unique objects and design that she brings to life, adornments with pride.
