Video

I am a 3D metalsmith artist focused on creating a shared space where provocative cultural subjects and adornment coexist.

Liana Tomchesson, Denver Colorado based metalsmith and 3D artist since 2016, weaves cultural content and text into art objects and adornment. In responding to our current culture, the work manipulates scale and layers of information into forms that ranges from small intimate objects to large sculptures. As she absorbs the world around her, her love of newsprint feeds the cultural concepts she explores in her work. Traditional metal craft skills and cutting edge technology are her skill set.

Highlights from this past few years include art work at the Gallery 1505 in Denver, CO. SXSW invitational exhibition Austin, Tx. People’s Gallery, Austin Tx and WEST Austin Studio Tour Group Exhibition, Dougherty Art Center, Austin, TX. Tomchesson was also selected in an Internationally Juried group exhibition at Saddleback Collage Art Gallery, Viejo, Ca titled Metal Extinction. Tomchesson completed the fellowship Artist Inc with the City of Austin.

Tomchesson received her MFA in 2014 with a degree in Metalsmithing and a minor in New Media. Mrs. Tomchesson is current an affiliate professor of jewelry metalsmithing at Metropolitan State University in Denver, CO. She is a former adjunct professor at the College of Visual Arts and Design, University of North Texas in Denton, Tx. and former metals instructor at Creativeside Jewelry Academy in Austin, Tx.
