Profile picture of Lindsey Snell

I have always been drawn to adornment and objects of material culture for their connection to sentiment and nostalgia. I am interested in the ways in which adornment is used as a method to both reveal and conceal issues of identity, personal history, loss, and mourning. Engaging with archaic materials and forms I work to visually disrupt traditional designs while calling attention to the complexity of an individual’s relationship to an object. Although adornment is connected with innumerable subjects, my work focuses on adornments that relate to and reflect on the body of the wearer, the body of the onlooker, and surrounding landscape.
