I am creating work that reflects my admiration for the structures Radiolaria and other Protozoa of the deep ocean create for themselves. I look at microphotography of these organisms as well as the drawings of scientist and artist Ernst Haeckel for further inspection and inspiration. Radiolaria speak to me: "I may be a spineless minuscule blob of matter, but I am building a badass armor to protect myself. I will survive and prevail."
A maker and lover of art all my life, during my career as a graphic designer, I mastered glass bead making techniques. I studied metalsmithing at Glassell School of Art in Houston, Texas under Sandra Zilker and Jan Harrell. I am currently working towards my MFA in Jewelry and Metals at The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. My awesome professors are Ana Lopez, James Thurman and Harlan Butt.
