Within my work I am interested in exploring the themes of; the souvenir, ornamentation, memory, longing, and nostalgia associated with the collection of personal objects. I am interested in how ordinary everyday objects transcend the mundane through the association of memory thus becoming personal and precious.

Nicole is an Associate Professor and Head of the Jewelry, Metalsmithing program at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Her education includes a bachelor of arts from IU in 1991, and her first MFA from the University of Michigan. Nicole received her second MFA in 1995 while on a Fulbright Scholarship to Australia at RMIT University in Melbourne, and in 2004 Nicole returned to RMIT and completed her Ph.D. in Fine Arts.

Recent residencies include; Smitten at Arrowmont in Tennessee, Grey Street Studio in Adelaide, Australia the International Ceramics Studio in Kecskemet, Hungary, the Vermont Studio Center in Johnston, Vermont, and in 08 she was a Visiting Artist & Scholar at the American Academy in Rome, Italy. Recent Fellowships, Grants and Awards include; First Place in the 2013 Jewelry + Objects Exhibition, a 2013 Ostrom Grant, 2012 Art Jewelry Forum Exhibitions Grant, travel grants to Hungary and Australia, an 08-10 Institute for Digital Arts and Humanities Fellowship, in 07 she received an International Projects + Activities Grant, and in 06 she was awarded a New Perspectives Grant as well as a New Frontiers Grant.

Nicole has had 6 solo exhibitions and participated in over 80 invitational/juried exhibitions in the USA, Europe, Asia + Australia. She has presented over 20 lectures on her work + and has had papers accepted to present at conferences in the UK, Australia, China, + the USA. Her work is published in over 30 of books, catalogues + websites, and her two solo catalogues, Personal Objects : Personal Spaces Catalogue printed in 07, and her self titled catalogue, Nicole Jacquard, from 05, are both available through Charon Kransen Arts.
