Practicing metalsmithing, woodworking and drawing techniques I craft small-scale objects. I visualize unconscious moods and ugly feelings. Through the craft process, I adapt to my intuitions to convey present thoughts and feelings. Wearables and tools are often re-contextualized, re-imagined, and re-made to convey themes of irony, humour, and playfulness. Because of the intuitive process the objects I make not only become reflections myself but also the systems I am surrounded by.
Sara Noël Perry-Din is an Alberta based metal-smith set to graduate from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2020. She visualizes how people are taught to interact and the ways humans reconcile their emotions. Sara is currently exploring personification of objects and materials, play, functionality and their relationship to absurdity.
