Biography

I have chosen the image of the insect and plant forms to depict stories or events in life. I like the idea of capturing a moment or action with the insects or plants that tell a story or cause the viewer to ponder what is happening with each piece.

I use various metals, such as steel, copper, bronze and silver to express each piece. I sometimes use Prisma colored pencils as my patina on the finished work, which allows me to incorporate my love for rendering and achieve a very different look and surface of the work.

The work of Sherri Jaudés, Metalsmith has been exhibited nationally, locally and internationally and is represented in the private collections of well know collectors of objects. Jaudés meticulous craftsmanship in a variety of metals from precious gold & silver through bronze and ferrous materials derives much of its inspiration from the natural environment. Her recent work includes small, jewelry scale work and larger sculptural pieces that mix metals, perspectives, colors and design to provide a specialized reach into the realms of nature, with a particular fascination with insects and their environments.
