I started making jewelry as a kid. I can't really remember the exact time, because my father's studio was right next to the house where I grew up. I would go out, and "work" making waxes for casting, forging, fold forming, or any one of a million things that he taught me to do.
The year I was born, my father (internationally recognized Mokume artist and author Steve Midgett) began to specialize in Mokume Gane jewelry and continues his fascination with patterned metals to this day. I grew up around Mokume and frequently used leftover bits laying around the shop to make pieces for my friends and myself. In high school, I became interested in ceramics, sculpture, and earthworks. I received a scholarship to go to the Savannah College of Art and Design. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Industrial Design in 2009. In 2012 my dad invited me to start a business with him to develop a ring making process for the patterned material he creates. The pieces you see here are the results of our labor.
