Tenure Track / Assistant Professor in Small Metals

First date of consideration is January 1, 2017.

The Department of Art and Design at Missouri State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in small metals and jewelry.

General Description and Primary Duties: The appointee will teach 3 undergraduate and/or graduate level courses per semester (18 contact hours) in the Metals and Jewelry Area and in the Foundations program. Continued creative research in related areas is expected. The appointee will serve as the Area Coordinator for the Metals and Jewelry program and oversee the Metals studio facilities, which include metalsmithing, enameling, casting, and electroforming equipment.

Candidates should have an MFA in Art (60 hours) or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant discipline; knowledge of a variety of traditional materials and techniques, and an engagement with contemporary technology such as CAD/CAM, NURBS modeling, and 3D printing.
