Meta-Formation: Experiment and Ritual Call for Entry
Metal artists working in the fields of sculpture and contemporary design are invited to submit work for a traveling exhibition in the US for 2019-2021. The goal of the show is to expand public awareness of the continuing aesthetic and technical evolution of contemporary forged metalwork.
Exciting work being produced by contemporary metal artists takes many forms. Outcomes range in size, function, scope, context and concept.
Through the lense of contemporary art and design three jurors will select from submissions for this exhibition. This application is open to artists whose honest and authentic work contributes to the progression of metalwork and blacksmithing in particular.
The goal of the show is to highlight the general artistry, inventiveness and technical proficiency in the medium of forged metalwork. Jurors will look for sculptural and design viability according to their discerning aesthetics. Jurors are Andy Cooperman, Sarah Darro, and Hoss Haley.
A catalogue will be produced to accompany the exhibition and at each venue, there will be programming at the museum and at a local school focused on learning, inclusivity and community involvement.
