Uchidashi with Ford Hallam

Uchidashi with Ford Hallam
5 day intensive, April 1-5, 2019 - 9am-4pm
$825 (plus tool kit $225 payable separately).
A thorough grounding in the Japanese metal forming technique called uchidashi or 'pushing down.' In Ford's words:
"Uchidashi is best described as a form of metal raising with punches rather than a hammer and on pitch instead of steel stakes. I’ll also be showing you how to achieve that striking ‘fire’ patina on copper, ‘hi-do’."

Ford Hallam is a classically trained goldsmith working in the Japanese tradition of metal art. Since his first study trip to Japan in 1993, Ford has dedicated himself to mastery of this unique tradition's techniques. Widely acknowledged as the leading Western authority on the subject, Ford teaches, creates his own metalwork, and continues research and restoration work in his studio in Devon, England.
