exhibition call - Drawing Down
The exhibition Drawing Down will explore the intersection between the practices of drawing and materials commonly used in jewelry-making. The word draw has many meanings: to produce a likeness or representation by making lines on a surface, to spread or elongate metal by hammering or by pulling through dies, to attract, to design or describe in detail, to formulate. We are seeking work from visual artists outside the realm of jewelry who are working with metals and precious materials, as well as work by contemporary art jewelers who use mark-making and drawing in their practice in unexpected ways. Submissions might include silverpoint or goldpoint drawing, works that incorporate precious metal leaf or gilding, jewelry that includes mark-making or drawing as a surface embellishment, pieces that incorporate engraving or etching, etc. Visit baltimorejewelrycenter.org/exhibitions/exhibition-calls/ for more info & to apply. Deadline is midnight EST, March 1, 2019.
