2 Be Seen
Ombré Gallery announced today that it will open emiko oye’s exhibition 2 Be Seen on October 12. The exhibition runs through November 15. An opening reception to meet the artist will be held Saturday, October 12 from 4-6 p.m in Over-the-Rhine at 1511 Race Street. Guests can continue their experience at BLINK Cincinnati.
In 2 Be Seen, emiko oye invites the public, through her medium of LEGO® and imagery of eyes, to experience mindfulness and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) as simple practices we can implement in our day-to-day interactions to begin to acknowledge the humanity of every person and create positive change we wish to see in the world.
As a fourth-generation Japanese-American, born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, emiko explores transgenerational trauma of her family’s experience with discrimination and injustice. emiko oye earned her BFA from Syracuse University. Inspired by haute couture, art history, and LEGO®, she creates colorful, bold jewelry.
