Saw-pierced Plique-à-jour with Amy Roper Lyons; Nov 23 & 24, 2019
Enamel Guild North East is pleased to announce, that Amy Roper Lyons is returning to teach her Plique-à-jour workshop. The workshop will take place at the Newark Museum November 23 & 24, 2019. A true master of her craft Amy shares lots of practical tips and insights acquired over many years of work.
Plique-à-jour is one of the most challenging but also most rewarding of enameling techniques. This class focuses on the saw-pierced method to create a silver framework, whose openings will be enameled to create a stained glass effect. The workshop will cover the making of the framework, the application of the enamel, special procedures for successful firing, and methods for finishing the work. Students will complete a pendant or pair of earrings. Beginners will gain an introduction to an exciting medium, and more experienced students will deepen their understanding.
