Call for Art: Chemical Exchanges
The Brookline Arts Center in Brookline, MA, invites artists residing in New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont) to submit work for Chemical Exchanges employing either traditional metalsmithing techniques such as jewelry and sculptural forms or more unconventional materials and approaches. A chemical exchange represents the transfer of a nucleus from one molecular environment to another: wood into gas, food to energy, metallic alloys into sonically resonant material. The transformation of the Brookline Chemical Fire House to a center for the visual arts is an example of a metaphoric chemical exchange, one which ensures further creative propagation. Works can include 2D, 3D, sculpture, installation, sound and material.
