Jewellery Technician - Full-Time

NSCAD University seeks an exemplary and qualified candidate for (full-time) Jewellery Technician. The Jewellery Technician oversees and coordinates operations of a limited access jewellery studio including maintenance, organization and supervision. Responsibilities include; budgetary administration, purchase of supplies, tools, and equipment, set up & repair of studio equipment, and assistance in digital research and digital fabrication. Priorities to safely and effectively support curriculum are developed in consultation with jewellery faculty.

Qualifications include:
• Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Metal (Jewellery) combined with 3-4 years of experience in Metal (Jewellery) and jewellery making is required (equivalencies are considered)
• Technical proficiency in jewellery and hollowware materials, processes and techniques
• Familiar with maintenance and use of jewellery studio & jewellery manufacturing machinery
• Experience working in a post-secondary educational environment is an asset
• Expertise in (3D) design software (Rhino 3D, Adobe), 3D printing and laser cutting is an asset
• Very good interpersonal and time management skills are essential, as is the ability to work in a noisy environment with frequent interruptions
• Knowledge regarding health and safety, and the ability to integrate evolving health and safety protocols
