Virtual Zoom Workshop: Thurmanite Jewelry & Microhardware

Thursday, Feb. 10th & 11th
Zoom 1pm-3pm
Tuition: $135

This online/virtual workshop will introduce students to incorporating Thurmanite and microhardware into their jewelry designs. Thurmanite is a layered composite material made of recycled paper and eco-resin that has the appearance of stone but is very lightweight and wearable. Microhardware is a cold-joining technique that is very versatile due to its threaded connections. Combined, they add a myriad of possibilities to a jeweler’s approaches. The first day of the workshop will focus on transforming pre-made Thurmanite blanks into jewelry components. The second day of the workshop will focus on microhardware and how to use it in combination with Thurmanite. Students will have the opportunity to complete either a variety of samples or finished jewelry, depending on their interests. Kits will be available through James Thurman a couple of weeks prior to the first day of the workshop for approx. $40.
